Yorkshire Offwidthing Meet

Britain’s typically short lived summer seemed to fall over the weekend of the club’s Offwidthing meet at Brimham, a select group of 7 members arrived ready to get involved with some of Brimham’s wider offerings. Peri Stracchino and Alastair Hudson both clocked up some air miles applying significant effort on Frensis direct while other teams (Richard Ellis and Hedda Maijer, Steve and Michael Jenkins, Maddy Raven and Mike Hammill) ventured to Cracked Buttress and the Hattery to seek out their own tussles, Maddy and Mike revisiting Brimham classics and possibly some of their own first ascents. After finding himself rather well wedged in Crackeroo the meet leader’s decision to stick to chimneys and fist cracks seemed like a smart move, perhaps a few less pies before another meet next year?

Spenser Gray

PS from Peri – Catering followed the Yorkshire theme and consisted of home baked Parkin (Peri’s) and Fat Rascals (Spenser’s), in honour of Spenser’s struggles with Crackeroo. The photo is of Spenser in the crack of Crackeroo and IS the right way up – he was prone in the bottom, unable to get upright again due to the narrowness of the crack and I was peering down into it, giggling helplessly.
