South West Climbs Crag Locations

An OS grid reference is printed against the heading for most crags in the South West Climbs Vol 2 guidebook (which correspond generally to the locations listed here). Below or beside each is printed a QR code. Scanning the code with a smartphone will reveal a Google Map. Clicking the links below will reveal the same Google Map.

The image will show a green pin where the target location is deemed to be, and a red teardrop labelled ‘A’ which usually indicates the nearest road or public footpath. Once you have loaded the Google Maps page you can click on the ‘A’ to bring up the usual menu to access the various available features (‘Get Directions’ local amenities, etc). To get a closer look at the terrain and approach use the Satellite Layer on the Google Map.

Google Maps may not provide the clarity, detail, and accuracy of OS maps or the specially drawn guidebook maps, and any directions or implied approach route information may not be consistent with the guidebook’s guidance or appropriate in potentially hazardous cliff environments. Users may find the information useful, but should anyway interpret it with discretion and with deference to the more traditional information provided in the guidebook.
