Tom Doldon

Tom Doldon’s funeral will be held on Thursday 11th January at 2pm at the Parish Church, Old Glossop. All welcome.

I am really sorry to share the terrible news that Tom Doldon, who has been a very active member of the club the last few years died at the weekend. I invited Tom to join the CC trip to Mingulay 3 years ago and he joined the club shortly afterwards. He will be fondly remembered by all who went on subsequent trips to Pabbay and Lewis. I am sure many others will remember meeting Tom in various hut trips we have done over the years. His Dad asked me to share the news with all who knew him. I will post details of the funeral arrangements once they are known.

Sadly Tom has suffered with mental health issues for many years and he took his own life. The photograph I have attached shows happier times where we enjoyed a 5 week trip to the Dolomites this past summer. This photo was taken shortly before we were benighted on the Messner Direct on the Marmolada. Sometimes the most challenging of experiences bring back the fondest memories. Am so sorry for sharing this sad news.
