Riasg Joint CC/LSCC Meet 2015

Last year I attended the Ladies Scottish Climbing Club meet at Tulloch Station and couldn’t understand why they weren’t at Riasg, they came to us this year on the first joint meet.

Eleven attendees were up and about Saturday morning off to various locations.

Snuff dry conditions were enjoyed by John and Steve at Black Rock, Arisaig. The crows are like vultures here and eat lunch boxes for breakfast never mind sandwiches. James and Sarah had a massive three Munroe day on Craig Meagaidh. Ian headed for solitude (well earned after a week with me) and experienced a great day mountain biking at Wolf Trax.

The ladies, Mike and I (I’m not quite a lady) set off for Western Rib on Anoch Mor a very wet and very greasy grade II scramble, we soon headed for the coll. I was glad of the rest after a week on Skye.

On our return I cooked a four course meal, the cheese course courtesy of the BMC/MCofS buffet for the grand opening of the refurbished Glen Brittle Memorial Hut. Quite fitting for a north/south meet. Following the cheese, whiskey sampling was undertaken – well when in Scotland….

Sunday saw a quick tidy of the hut with Mike taking great pleasure in test driving the very new and very large hoover on the very new and very plush carpets.

The groups scattered to Creag Dhubh, Poldubh, an eight hour walk on Carn Dearg and Carn Dearg Begh and Luib Chonnal bothy, Beinn Challuim bog hopping and Chesterfield (boring!)

Thanks everyone for a great first meet. See you same time next year.

Attendees Steve Carter CC, Sarah Clough, Irene MacGregor LSCC, Lizzie Potts LSCC James Rowe CC, Kerry Sinclair LSCC Mary Stewart LSCC , Mike Thewlis, John Trythall CC, Clair Wilson CC and Ian Wilson.

Cheers Clair Wilson
