Below are a few photos of the Remembrance Day event at Ynys Ettws, at 11am last Sunday.
I spoke about the CC members who gave their lives – quite a high proportion of the membership. Of about 400 members in 1939, 157 served in the armed forces and 27 of those were killed – about 1 in 6. Pretty horrifying odds. I read out the names of those who died – including that of Colin Kirkus – then Peter Spalton read a moving war poem which described the tragic waste. Two wreaths were laid.
In the Second World War *twenty seven* members of the CC were killed on active service, including such talent as Colin Kirkus. I haven’t yet done the research for the First World War.
It seems appropriate that their memorial is the access bridge to our wonderful Hut in the Pass, and equally appropriate that we recognise this on Remembrance Sunday.

Well done David.
