One hundred metres left (looking out) of Narayan Buttress a flat-topped low promontory juts out into the sea (easily seen from the coast path!). Walk down the left (SW) side of the promontory to a sun-drenched grey slab gearing up spot 5 metres above the sea and surrounded by a wild, shale chaos! Traversing leftwards just above high tide level the first feature reached after 14 metres is a spiky groove leading to a niche below a roof ( the second roof from the right); start here.

Pitch descriptions:
Climb the spiky groove to the niche and follow the ramp up leftwards to finish up a short crack.

1 7m Traverse left to gain a recess below an overhanging grey groove, and excellent belays.
2 18m Follow a subsidiary groove on the left to an awkward exit. Gain a balcony below the blade-like roof, and walk leftwards along this to escape.

Pitch descriptions:
4b Make a tricky step left into the slanting groove that leads up into the chimney-crack blowhole. Continue to a constriction, move up right, then swing back left into the chimney-crack and slither up to daylight.

Pen Bilis is the correct name for the crag! The routes Redman and Slug Matador were repeated–grades confirmed!

Climb the cracked wall. Starting from a refuge ledge, the compact wall just left gives the interesting Grouted (6m S 20.01.12).

Additional info:
Jigsaw, Hammer and Drill were all repeated–grades confirmed! Chisel repeated–suggest raise grade from M to D! Screwdriver repeated–suggest lowering grade VD to M! This is a nice area suitable for a pleasant adventure. However, the abseil stake at the top of the grey (Aquaplane) slab is in a very BAD state; as are the finishes of the two routes here!

Two hundred metres north of Narayan Buttress, the next headland is obvious by its large golden wall, broken by horizontal breaks. To its right is a shorter promontory, with an obvious quartz arete on its right. A roped scrambleabseil leads to the top of the promontory and a quartz block. Fix the rope (SECURELY!), and make a 10 metre abseil down the seaward wall to gain a large area of slabby ledges. Start at the foot of the quartz arête just right (looking in) of the abseil.

Start location:
Twelve metres left of The Knocking Shop, the golden wall is bounded on its right-hand side by a large groove. Start just below and right of the large groove.

Pitch descriptions:
Avoid the greasy slabs (which are a very dangerous sea-race!); and climb the right side of the large groove to a roof. Stride leftwards across the groove, and follow the break and ledges leftwards to below the loose, blocky ridge at the left end of the wall. Climb the right side of the ridge, then its left side to the top.

Thirty metres to the left (looking in) of the top of the slab containing Men Are from Mars etc is a dark slab, with a ledge system at half-height (suggested name: Charcoal Slab?). Access is by scrambling down the ridge at the top of the slab and traverseing in (mid tide and below!). The first feature reached is a shallow corner leading to the left end of the half-height ledge system; start here.

Start 25 metres right of Less UV at a lower dark ledge below a short, steep wall. Above this is a left-facing groove.

4c Climb the short, steep wall, then another wall leads into the left-facing groove. Up this to the top, with careful belays in a thin crack to the right. The difficulty depends on where the initial wall is climbed!

Start location:
From St Non’s car park, cross the field past the ruined chapel and gain the coast path at a stile. Turn right (west) and after 60 metres a block-like sea stack is reached. Access is by a descending a grassy gully on the east side of the headland to reach a subsidiary ridge; followed by a scramble down a ramp on the right to gain the boulders below the dark north face of the stack (most tides!). Start at the centre of the north face below a curving corner. Descent:- by a scramble down the seaward face of the stack.

Start location:
One hundred metres west of Purple Slab is a rock island with two prominent groove lines on its slabby, seaward face. Access is by descending a grassy path (ladder at the bottom) from the coast path, when opposite the landward face of the island (low tide!). Start on the seaward face 3 metres right of the left edge of the face, below a pocketed crack. Descent is by abseil, or a down-climb (D) down the landward face of the island.

The main feature is a large central overlap with dark streaks beneath. Access is by a straightforward scramble from the top of Coetan Gully. Start 3 metres right of the start of pitch 2 of Coetan Crack, at a ramp leading rightwards.

Pitch descriptions:
Follow the ramp and continue up the flake and crack system to the left end of the central overlap. Continue up the grooves and cracks, past a small overlap and finish up the short corner on the left. Wonderful, straightforward climbing; which wouldn’t be out of place at Bosigran!

On the west side of the harbour entrance and facing the main Porthclais crags is a small, but sheltered craglet centred around a fine, slanting arete (suggested name for area Porthclais West?). Access is from the coast path by following the second of two small paths through the gorse, commencing at a bend some 40 metres before the stile. This leads down to yellow blocks above the slanting arete. Approach the first routes by scrambling down rocks to the right (looking out), or abseil, to gain a low tide ledge below a grey, purple and yellow wall. Start below the crack at the left side of this wall.

The first route starts on a square ledge at low tide level, gained by abseiling down the left wall (looking out) of a wet chimney bounding the right (still looking out) end of the wall.

Start location:
Follow the coast path westwards from the harbour, up the steps, and continue to the off-white beacon. Scramble down the broken rocks in front of the beacon to reach the top of a small, hidden zawn. Access to the zawn is by a scramble down its left-hand (looking out) bounding ridge (mid tide!). Start by a rock pool below a quartz-flecked slab leading up to the descent ridge.

Start location:
From the col before the final rise to the headland; descend leftwards (S) along a ramp system. After 50 metres a short, grey, overhanging wall is reached rising from a large flat ledge 6 metres above the sea. Start at the centre of this wall.

4c Climb rightwards up the wall, past the small triangular niche. Move up, and finish leftwards.

Follow the approach down the ridge to Black Slab. Belay 10 metres above the sea where the grey rock changes to a black colour.

Commence a long horizontal leftwards traverse across the ledges; until a crucial step down gains a rock furrow. Follow this up leftwards to the top.

Immediately behind Maiden ia greybrown wall. Start just left of its centre at a shelf below a right-trending line of quartz holds (not the upper, more continuous line of quartz!).

Pitch descriptions:
4a Pull onto the shelf, and follow the quartz hold rightwards, via a short corner, until moves up gain the finishing slanting groove.
