Crags, sea-stacks and mountains of Northwest Scotland
Date: Monday 21st May 2018 to Monday 28th May 2018Venue: The Naismith Hut, Elphin, Sutherland, IV27 4HH
This meet is based at the SMC’s Naismith Hut, which is located in Elphin, NW Scotland (NC 2160 1183). Its fully equipped with electric and gas, showers and drying room and sleeps 12 people in two dorms on Alpine platforms - unusually we have been able to secure the entire hut. There are many rock climbing venues available (UKC claims 395 crags within 50km!), including Ardmair, the sea cliffs of Rieff (Stanage-by- the-sea!) and Sheigra, The Old Man of Stoer, plus mountain crags such as Stac Pollaidh and Fionaven. Hills within easy reach of the hut include Ben Mor Coigach, Stac Pollaidh, Cul Beag and Cul Mor, Suilven, and Quinag. May is the most reliable month for scottish rock, combining long days and better weather, before the midges make their appearance in early June. Arrival Monday 21st May 2018, departing Monday 28th May 2018 Normal CC hut fees apply, ie £6ppn for members, £9ppn for members’ guests. Please book directly by contacting David Myatt.
