Journal Extract Request |
Extract requestsThe Climbers’ Club offers a digitised extract service for members and non-members (different charges apply) to obtain extracts from its Journals dating back to 1898. We can extract journal articles and pictures, but due to UK copyright regulations we can only make one copy of one article from a single journal issue. As stated on the copyright declaration form, extracting is undertaken either for research for a non-commercial purpose or for private study. If your use is for commercial purposes or leads to a commercial product e.g. a book, you will need to seek permission from both the author/photographer and the Climbers’ Club. All illegal requests will be returned unprocessed to ensure the Climbers’ Club complies with UK law.
Non-commercial charges for members and non-members as stated on the
relevant declaration form are:
Non-members Before orders can be processed we must receive a signed copyright declaration form for each extract requested, and a payment for the order(s). We are legally unable to accept an electronic signature, forms must therefore be delivered by post

The exact definition of what constitutes fair dealing is not certain but copying can only be made for non-commercial research or private study. Making multiple copies of the same material does not fall within fair dealing. The broadly accepted guidelines for the amount of a work that may be copied under fair dealing permit the copying of:
Copying is also permitted for purposes of criticism or review but
the amount copied is limited to a single extract of up to 400 words
or a number of extracts, each of no more than 300 words and
totalling no more than 800 words. |
