RESTRICTIONS, ACCESS & HUT FEES

*** Hut Keys - Important ***

As you may be aware we have now largely completed the transition to electronic 'proximity' ** keys as the preferred access method to our huts. However, due to some unrelated works, it has not been yet possible to complete all of the barriers - however it should now be possible to access all the huts and car parks without carrying the old, metal keys. A full list of the current access arrangements, as of 26/07/08 appears below.

** Electronic Key Fob should be held against the circle until green light appears

This new system offers administrative advantages (lost/stolen keys can be disabled) and economic advantages (no need to replace worn out or damaged locks/keys), but it's also an exercise which is initially expensive, and to recoup some of the cost I'm afraid we have to ask for a £6 contribution (if upgrading from a metal key) for each new key (includes postage).

If you don’t already have an old style metal key, then the cost of a first key is £16.

If you haven't done so already, you can purchase an electronic key online as follows:

1) Click on https://www.nochex.com/quicksend
2) Enter the following info:
a) To: membership@climbers-club.co.uk
b) Amount: £6.00 (or £16.00 if this is your first key)
c) Message: Name, Email, Membership no, Key no., any other relevant details
3) click on Continue, enter card & contact details etc, and Make Payment

Alternatively, please send a cheque, payable to The Climbers' Club, along with a note listing your name/membership number/key number to:

Andy Bullock (CC Membership Secretary)

For further information or if you have any questions, please contact Andy directly (number in the handbook).

Current lock status (26 July 2008):

The transition to electronic access control in the huts is now largely complete, and we are trialling a solution for the barriers at Ynys Ettys. If this is successful we will introduce it at the Count House and Helyg. As an interim measure, combination locks or other methods have been employed, and the codes/keys kept in a nearby, fob operated safe as is appropriate:

Riasg:
Fully electronic, no metal key required

Downes:
Fully electronic, no metal key required

Helyg:
Door is electronic, car barrier still requires a metal key. The barrier is fitted with an old style metal lock, the key to which is kept  in an electronic safe on the garage door. The garage is also accessed by the same key. Alternatively your old metal key can be used, if you still have it.

Ynys Ettws:
Door is electronic and the car barrier now has an electronic catch mechanism which is acting as a trial for other barriers. So far it is working, but we want to go through a second winter before committing to this solution, as we have had to change out one lock earlier this year.

Cwm Glas:
Door is electronic and the key for the toilet block is in the hut.  See above for the car barrier.

May Cottage:
Fully electronic, front and rear and no metal key required.

Count House:
Door and alarm-safe are electronic, car barrier is controlled by a combination lock, code is kept in the alarm-safe. No metal key required. Once the requirements for the proposed 'Cornish Hedge' boundary are complete we will address the barrier issue.

RLH (Wayfarers) Langdale:
A new key-box is now fitted and we're working with the Wayfarers towards a solution for the car barriers. Always return the key to the box even when leaving for the odd hour.

Grange Old School:
Fully electronic, no metal key required.
