Help with free board & lodging, Glen Clova Hut

New Glen Clova Hut in the Snow

New Glen Clova Hut in the Snow

Call for help with pathbuilding around Carn Dearg Mountaineering Club’s new club hut: free room and board.

Many thanks to those clubs who have previously contributed to this project financially. This time we are asking for labour…but will give you somewhere to sleep and lots of food in return.

You may be aware of the CDMC project of building a replacement for their old club hut in Glen Clova. The building is nearing completion and we hope to be able to open it later this year for use by other clubs.

One task remains that needs a lot of labour: building footpaths around the building and up to the car park. That’s where you can help.

If your club doesn’t have a hut but you use other clubs’ huts on your meets then this is your chance to put something back towards the network of mountain club huts.

The task in hand is similar to, but should also be easier than, the path building carried out by organisations like the John Muir Trust as our terrain is flat and we have got all building materials on site. We have already had some advice from a JMT path build manager and some of our club members will be attending a path building weekend with the JMT in early May. All we need are many helping hands to make it happen.

We offer you free accommodation at our old club hut or camping on our grounds in Glen Clova as well as free lunch, teas and cakes and dinner. In return we ask for a day of your time. If things go well, there is a chance to explore the local hills the following day – unless you want to stay on for some other work.

At the moment we are looking at the weekend of 23-25 May 2014. Please respond if you are able to help. If another date would suit you better then please let us know.

I am organising this event and can be contacted by email at <j.neff@gmx.net>

For any queries until early May please contact our club president, Katie Marwick, <katie.marwick@gmail.com>

In anticipation of a good turn-out,

Jojo Neff (CDMC vice president)
