This
guidebook is a new venture for the CC. It describes the exciting new developments
that have taken place at Swanage and Portland solo climbing in situations where
to fall off means splashing down into deep (or in some cases not-so-deep - see
below) water. As such it compliments the CC's Swanage and Portland guide.
The
book contains 96 pages and is produced in A5 format with laminated card
covers. This format allows for 20 large line drawings to be included with two
maps. It is lavishly illustrated with 20 colour photos - these do much to put
over the nature of the climbing, which at times has a positively Mediterranean
feel to it!
Advice is given for climbers new to the sport, and over 130 climbs
are described with conventional and 'S' grades. The latter from S0 to S3 indicate
the degree of safety if the climber falls in (a 'splashdown'): from complete
safety to "…water
present for psychological purposes only".
