Climbing, walking, mountain biking.

Galloway offers superb rock climbing on both mountain and sea cliff granite and on greywackie sandstone. The SMT ‘Lowland Outcrops’ and ‘Scottish Rock Climbs’ guidebooks detail routes. Unlike our previous meets we are outside the bird ban time which opens up many crags which have been off limits before.
For walking the SMT 'Corbetts and other Scottish Hills’ guide give details of many of the excellent walks in the area.
For mountain biking there are the dedicated 7 Stanes areas at Newton Stewart and Dalbeattie together with several longer forestry trails and useful for the approach to Dungeon of Buchan.
The Campsite takes tents, camper vans and tourers but regretfully the chalets there are fully booked already. However we have first refusal on camping although it may be wise to book early as the site is now very popular. When booking mention the FRCC.
