Count House – Update Nov 2016

Hi all
A quick update on the progress of the works at the Count House, following the summer recess. It has been a very busy year at the hut – equivalent to a family of 4/5 in full time residence, but we’ve managed to keep the hut open without significant disruption. Thanks to all those who have helped and to those members who’ve lived with the noise and rallied round with cups of tea, beer and food. Bob Watson, James Mann, Gareth Palmer, the Athertons and, of course, Rob Seymour all deserve high praise.

EXTERNAL WORKS
Access track, car park and camping area revisions completed. New Cornish style kissing gate fabricated and installed. Porch and Patio designs completed and, and Planning Permission now granted. Works will commence once contractors have been appointed.

BIVEN ROOM
The new gas fire and the time limiting controls are now fully operational – see also Sound Insulation below;

SOUND INSULATION
One of the areas of most concern to members has been that of noise levels between the Kitchen and Bedroom 1 and between the Biven Room and Bedroom 4 – new acoustic floors have now been fitted to both areas, and we’re pleased to say this has attenuated noise to much more acceptable levels.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
All the bedrooms now have heavyweight floor tiles installed. All works complete apart from minor items.

COOKING AND EATING ARRANGEMENTS
Utility Room works complete with additional ventilation/lighting to follow. New Kitchen layout works will commence in the new year.

WASHROOM ARRANGEMENTS
The new upstairs washroom is well under way with a large shower enclosure installed complete with a new WC and basin. Wall finishes well in hand, and new flooring will be installed shortly, with overall completion due for Xmas 2016.

MISCELLANEOUS
Blockages have occurred in the pipe work to the Septic Tank, necessitating it being emptied for the first time in decades. This is being monitored, and users are requested to check the tank periodically, reporting any issues to the Custodian. Believe me, anyone who has used the loo at the Count House in the last year owes Rob a beer!
