Count House update – June 2016

A quick update, on the progress of the works at the Count House, following some milestones events in the period, may be important for those wishing to use the hut over the summer.

EXTERNAL WORKS

Access track, car park and camping area revisions are largely completed – we’ll monitor over the summer to see what else needs to be done. Camping area is around 10% larger. New Cornish style kissing gate in fabrication. New lock fitted to front door, which is now the same pattern as other huts. Porch and Patio designs complete, and Planning Permission submittal complete – this is due for a decision sometime in late June.

BIVEN ROOM

The new gas fire and the time limiting controls are now fully operational, so there is no danger of it being left on for long periods. Controls are a little tricky, so please follow the wall mounted instructions.

SOUND INSULATION

One of the areas of most concern to members is that of noise levels between the Kitchen and Bedroom 1 – a new acoustic floor has been laid above the old floor and we’re pleased to say this has attenuated noise to an acceptable level – you can certainly no longer hear the clock ticking in the Kitchen below. We’ll monitor other areas over the busy periods in the summer.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

All new bunks, mattresses, shelving etc complete and heavyweight floor tiles have also been laid in Bedroom 1 and adjacent corridors. The same flooring will be extended into Bedroom 3 and Bedroom 5 corridors in the near future.

COOKING AND EATING ARRANGEMENTS

Cooker now installed to the Utility Room, and operational, serving both the central dining area and the rear of the building. This, together with additional wall units gives a much improved usage flow. We’ll review for additional fire suppression in the near future. Plans completed for the revised Kitchen layout and works are expected to be completed later this year.

Works will now come to a halt so the hut can be fully utilized over the summer – enjoy!
