Whilst we had a couple days of inclement weather the majority of the time people were able to get out and tackle the usual classics. Most of the children / young people enjoyed some climbing. There was a memorable accent of Bosigran ridge with a total of 10 people climbing the route on Ben’s 11th birthday.
Solly topped last year’s leading with an E2 lead this year. A range of activities other than climbing were enjoyed – surfing, cycling, walking and running to name but a few. The Kemble Dory clan and Miles arrived with kayaks which they generously loaned out to others.Cornwall put on it’s usual unique events such as the Morvah Pasty Festival (the meet thinks a better name is The Pastival). We started an event of our own, which may become a new tradition – we held a communal meal on 29th July – what would have been Craig Harwood’s birthday. We raised a toast to him – his presence and his limitless enthusiasm for climbing was missed this year.
Many thanks to Rob and John the custodians for all the work they do through the year getting the hut into such a great condition for the Family Meet. If you fancied coming along next year then the dates to put in your diary are the last week in July and the first week in August 2016. You would be very welcome – you just need to find a suitable child!
