Easter Rock Meet, San Vito lo Capo, Sicily

Date: Saturday 28th March 2015 to Saturday 11th April 2015
Venue: El Bahira Camping Village, San Vito lo Capo

The El Bahira campsite is a few kilometres outside San Vito town, and is really well situated for the rapidly developing sport climbing scene there. The site owners are very climber friendly. There are about 50 climbs actually in the campsite boundary and well over 250 within easy walking distance. There are several other excellent crags within a short drive. San Vito has a great beach, and loads of good bars, restaurants, and gelateria!

The guide book is very up to date, The latest (4th) edition is just published in October 2014! –

The campsite also has update sheets of new routes.

At the moment (25/10) the only direct flights showing as available are to Palermo with Ryanair (from Stansted), or Easyjet (from Gatwick). Fares currently vary from £42 to £207(!) each way depending on the exact dates chosen. The Ryanair website also shows a Manchester to Trapani route, but no dates or prices as yet. Both airports are about an hour from San Vito. It is also possible to drive but is a LONG way – about 2000 miles, although you can cut down the actual driving by taking the long ferry (about 20 hours) from Genova to Palermo (last year that cost €170 for a small campervan).

The campsite has apartments and mobile homes available as well as pitches for campervans, caravans and tents. They offer special rates for climbers over low season of €290 per apartment (4 people) or €270 per mobile home (also 4 people) for a week. I have confirmed that those rates will be available over Easter, and the campsite owners have said they could also offer further discounts depending on group size. The campsite website is at – http://www.elbahira.it/ (with an option at the bottom to select “English”!) They also accept ACSI cards, but last year their low season rate was €14 per night, so lower than the ACSI rate anyway!

If you want any further info let me know.

Anyone interested please let us know as soon as possible. We will try to match people up for possible accommodation or hire-car sharing, depending on dates. Although we won’t be making any actual accommodation bookings for the Meet, we’ll try to ensure the campsite knows how many are on the Meet to obtain any possible discounts.
