IMPORTANT: If you are intending to attend the Celebration of Barrie’s life please let Rob Seymour know by email (r.seymour880@btinternet.com) before the 10th June. If you need a bed at the Count House please book on-line.

A message from Colonel Rich Cantrill Royal Marines:

On Saturday 17th June, family and friends of Barrie will be gathering at Bosigran to celebrate his life and to scatter his ashes. Lucy Biven and the family would welcome those from the climbing community that knew Barrie to join this celebration.

The plan is to gather in the vicinity of the Count House at 1300. Two Royal Marines will be taking Barrie’s ashes up Doorpost for “one last climb” and attendees will be invited to walk across and witness the completion of the climb. Barrie’s ashes will then be handed over to Lucy such that they can be scattered, in accordance with Barrie’s wishes, alongside those of his brother Pete and dear friend Trevor.

The Climbers’ Club has very generously allowed us to retire for a cream tea (and perhaps a beer) in the Count House at about 1430/1500. Of course the Hut will be busy, but the planned residents from the REME club have very kindly agreed to share.

It would be appreciated if anyone who plans to attend could email me on rich_cantrill@hotmail.com (so I know how many scones to bake!).

Finally – Lucy is very clear that this is a Celebration, not a funeral, and so no black ties or flowers required.

Rich Cantrill

As noted in Rich’s summary above he would like to know how many people are likely to be attending so he can sort out the catering. You can email Rich direct at the email in the text above or let me know (r.seymour880@btinternet.com) and I will liaise to give an overall “global” figure for CC attendees.
